Green smoothies are so.hot.right.now.
They are an easy way to pack more veggies into your day, they are quick, easy to make and you can pop them in a leak-proof container and take them wherever you fancy, so there really is no excuse not to have them as a daily habit.
Now… I am all about extra greens but every recipe I tried literally tasted like grass so the habit never stuck, that is… until I discovered the Beginners Green Smoothie combo, now I smash one of these babies every morning.
Despite the name, it’s not only for beginners, but it is the perfect starting point for any smoothie drinker who is worried that no matter what they put in the blender, it will taste like grass.
I promise you, this will not taste like grass!
This recipe includes a banana for sweetness, however, once you become a green smoothie pro, you’ll find your tastebuds adjust and you won’t need to add any sweeteners! You go Glen Coco!!
Also, once you have tweaked this recipe to suit your tastes, start to get creative. Add protein powders or super greens or bulk it up with oats, flax or chia seeds. Top it off with nuts, coconut or cacao and add more greens with bock choi or lettuce, or mix it up with different combinations of herbs, the possibilities are truly endless!
Beginners Green Smoothie
Serves 1
What you’ll need:
a couple of handfuls of Spinach leaves
1 banana
1 cup of milk of your choosing – chilled
How it works:
Simply whiz everything together in the highest quality blender you can get your mits on until the spinach is obliterated, so you don’t end up chewing on green chunks.
Pop it into a leak-proof container and drink it down fast. Or if you want to be really trendy, pop it in a recycled jam jar with a cute straw and drink it smugly in front of your co-workers!
